Though it is not the only method I use, I am a trained DBT therapist and teach DBT Skills Groups. I will be starting a skills group for trans and gender diverse individuals in the near future. Please feel free to contact me about this. I am further considering starting a DBT Skills Group for couples and families as demand dictates. DBT Skills Groups consist of three 10-week modules which teach clients effective skills for mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Research shows that DBT skills can improve urges to self-harm, suicidal thinking and behaviors, eating disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, and depression. These skills can also be effective for AD(H)D, anxiety and communication, among other issues.
